New York City. 1993. Three skateboard enthusiasts teamed up
to develop Zoo York: the East Coast’s first true skateboarding-inspired
lifestyle brand. The trio siphoned creative inspiration
from NYC’s rapidly-evolving skateboarding, music and art scenes to
produce culturally-relevant products that were dark and
gritty - just like NYC. Their initial simple line of
skateboards and T-shirts soon grew into an awesome apparel
collection - characterized by military surplus, street athletic styling
- designed to fight back against the city’s rigors and rugged terrain.
Zoo York is now a highly-evolved global brand with a distinctly
defiant East Coast attitude and dialect.

Creative Recreation officially launched in Orange County,
California in 2002 to fill a gap in the footwear market:
everyone else was offering either dress shoes to be worn
with a suit, or athletic-inspired sneakers that fell
short of our lifestyle needs.
